Terms and Conditions

Welcome to T2T Payment Solutions (Pty) Ltd, trading as Tap2Tip (“T2T”). By using our services, including the Tap2Tip mobile application, Tap2Trade, and www.taptotip.co.za (collectively referred to as the “Platform”), you agree to the following Terms and Conditions. These Terms are legally binding and govern your use of the Platform. Please read them carefully.

 

1. Definitions

  • “T2T” refers to Tap2Tip, a registered Third-Party Payment Provider (TPPP) in South Africa.
  • “Tapper” or “Tapper” refers to users who make a payment or donation (“tip”) to another user via the T2T platform.
  • “Tippee” refers to users who receive payments or tips via the T2T platform.
  • “Trader” refers to micro-merchants or small business owners registered under Tap2Trade.
  • “Wallet” refers to the virtual account within the app used to store and manage funds.
  • “Budget Buckets” refers to optional savings categories created within the Wallet for planning expenses.

 

2. Account Creation and Usage

  • Users must register on the Platform using accurate and verifiable personal details.
  • All Tippees must provide a valid South African ID number, banking verification, and contact information for KYC and FICA compliance.
  • Users are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of their login credentials.
  • Tappers/Tappers must transact with a minimum tip value of R100 per transaction.
  • Tippees must activate and use their Tap2Tip Card to receive and access funds.
  • Users must ensure that there is sufficient balance in their Wallet to transact or withdraw funds.

 

3. Wallet and Transaction Conditions

  • Tippees must have a minimum balance of R100 in their Wallet to initiate any EFT, PayShap, or cash-out request.
  • All tips received are subject to the applicable service and transaction fees (see Section 4).
  • All funds are held in a virtual Wallet until used, withdrawn, or transferred.
  • Tips are processed in increments of R5 and above.
  • T2T charges must be covered by the Tippee’s Wallet balance. If insufficient funds are available, the transaction will be declined.
  • The Wallet balance must be sufficient to cover all T2T charges or the transaction will be declined.

 

4. Fees and Charges

The following charges apply to Tippee accounts:

  • Platform Fee (on all tips received)
    • 1.95% (equivalent to R0.40 per every R5 tip)
  • EFT Withdrawal
    • Flat fee of R4.95
  • PayShap Withdrawal
    • Flat fee of R7.00
  • ATM Withdrawal
    • Tiered fee of R14.53 + R2.50 per additional R1,000.00, plus any applicable ATM fees
  • Retailer Cash-Out
    • Same fee structure as ATM withdrawals
  • Voucher Conversion
    • R5 + 2.5% of the value converted
  • Instant Payments
    • Flat fee of R30.00

T2T reserves the right to revise fees with 14 days’ notice, posted in-app and online.

 

5. Budget Buckets (Savings Module)

  • Tippees may allocate funds into Budget Buckets for expense planning (e.g. Rent, Transport, School Fees).
  • Budget Buckets are not interest-bearing and do not function as savings or bank accounts.
  • T2T is not a bank and does not offer banking services.
  • Funds in Budget Buckets are still subject to standard platform charges upon withdrawal.

 

6. Tap2Tip Card Usage

  • Tap2Tip Cards must be activated and linked to a Tippee account.
  • Cards can be used to receive funds, make purchases, or access vouchers.
  • Lost or stolen cards must be cancelled on the T2T app.
  • Replacement cards will incur a nominal fee and can be purchased or gifted to the Tippee.
  • Cards may be gifted or purchased at participating retail outlets.

 

7. Vouchers and Marketplace

  • Tippees may redeem vouchers using Wallet funds.
  • Voucher redemptions are subject to a conversion fee (see Section 4).
  • All vouchers are issued on a cash-equivalent basis and may not be refundable.

 

8. Legal, Licensing & Regulatory Compliance

  • T2T is registered as a Third-Party Payment Provider (TPPP) under South African law.
  • All user activity is subject to Financial Intelligence Centre Act (FICA), AML, and KYC obligations.
  • T2T reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts for misuse, fraudulent activity, or regulatory breach.

 

9. Platform Access, Availability & App Stores

  • T2T complies with Google Play and Apple App Store terms.
  • Platform updates may be rolled out to ensure compliance, functionality, and security.
  • Users may experience intermittent downtime due to updates or third-party provider disruptions.

 

10. Data Privacy & Security

  • All personal data is collected and processed in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).
  • T2T does not sell or rent user data to third parties.
  • Users agree to the collection of data for platform improvement and legal compliance.

 

11. Termination and Suspension

  • T2T may terminate accounts without prior notice in cases of fraud, abuse, or non-compliance.
  • Users may deactivate their accounts through the app at any time.

 

12. Dispute Resolution and Liability

  • Disputes will be resolved in accordance with South African law.
  • T2T is not liable for losses resulting from third-party payment failures, delays, or unauthorised transactions.
